POSTERIOR ANTERIOR (PA) CEPHALOMETRIC ASSESSMENT FOR SAUDI ADULT MALE POPULATION
Abstract
The aim of the following study was to assess dental, skeletal and dental to skeletal measurements of Ricketts parameter using PA cephalogram in Saudi male population. Standard PA cephalographs of 100 esthetically pleasing faces without any craniofacial deformity were taken from the radiology archive and digitally analysed for the Ricketts analysis (RA). Different linear and angular variables such as the dental, skeletal and dental to skeletal were measured. Descriptive analysis has been done. To check the difference between different parameters with different ethnics, mean differences has been calculated. Mandibular and maxillary inter molar width were 53.17?3.13 and 55.33?3.08 respectively. Dental midline and skeletal midline discrepancy were 0.53?0.85 and 1.32?3.65 respectively. This study has measured PA cephalometric dental, skeletal and dental to skeletal values for the Saudi adult male using RA. Dental and skeletal asymmetries are revealed which is a common finding even in individuals who have normal facial features.
